Contest Rules

The Grey Water Project’s Earth Day 2023

The Grey Water Project invites students’ grades K-12 from across the world to submit their Earth Day inspired visual art, performance art including music, dance and literature for a chance to win prizes and recognition.

The theme for this year is ‘Invest in our Planet

The selected visual art, literature, and writing will be displayed at the City of Fremont and Fremont Creates Earth Day on April 22nd. The music and dance winners will also get a chance to perform at the same event if they are local or a recording of their performance would be played at the venue.

First place winners of each category will be awarded a cash prize of $75.00. There would be subsequent cash prizes and Honorable Mentions for the rest of the winners.

General Guidelines:

  • Only new pieces of artwork may be submitted.

  • An explanation of the project done might be a useful addition when submitting your entry.

  • Each entry must be the original work of one student only.

  • Once you are ready to submit, please use the registration button below.

  • Use of copyrighted material is prohibited. Plagiarized entries will be disqualified.

Submission Requirements:

  • Each entry must be the original work of one student only.

  • Dimensions must not exceed 24x30 inches.

Music Composition

Style:

A Cappella, Blues, Choral, Country, Electronic, Hip hop, Jazz, Latin, Musical, Orchestral, Pop, R&B, Rock, Symphonic/Concert Band and Traditional.

Submission Requirements:

  • Each entry can be the original work of either one student or a group.

  • Audio recording must not exceed 5 minutes in length and 1GB (one gigabyte) in file size.

  • Accepted audio file formats include: MP3, WMA, WAV, ACC (M4A) and FL

Dance Class

Dance Choreography

Style:

Any style including Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Folk Dance, Country specific dance, Dance Ensembles (color guard/indoor guard), Ice Skating/Dancing and Gymnastics-floor Routine.

Submission Requirements:

  • Video must not exceed 5 minutes in length and 1GB (one gigabyte) in file size.

  • Accepted file formats include: AVI, MOV, MP4, WMV and FLV.

  • Cite background music (if any) with the submission.

Literature

Style:

  • Prose

  • Poetry

  • Drama

  • Reflective essay

  • Narrative

  • Short story

Lecture Presentation

Submission Requirements:

  • Each entry must be the original work of one student only.

  • Entry must not exceed 2,000 words.

  • Entries can either be handwritten or typed in word

All entries will be displayed at the Earth Day Celebrations by The Grey Water Project, City of Fremont, CA and Fremont Creates, CA
