Take Shorter Showers - The average shower in America lasts 8 minutes, which wastes approximately 18 gallons of water or more per shower! Cut your shower time to 3 min instead!
Turn off tap while brushing your teeth - Just by turning off the tap while brushing in the morning and in the evening, you can save up to 8 gallons of water per day. This adds up to almost 200 gallons a month!
Shower bucket: Collect the cold water while waiting for the water to turn hot - In a large house, the most distant fixtures can have 50 feet of piping between them and the water heater. A huge amount of water is wasted if you run the faucet/showerhead while waiting for the water to reach you. Instead, collect this water and use it!
Use Grey Water from the laundry. The laundry-to-landscape system is a simple system with easy distribution of greywater to multiple plants. It is relatively low cost, and easy to install. The washer hose is connected to a 3-way valve that can divert greywater either to the sewer or the greywater system and piped outside with 1” rigid pipe, like PVC.
Reuse pasta liquid
Keep a pitcher of drinking water instead of running the tap
Wait until there is a full basket of laundry before loading the washing machine, Doing a full load of laundry instead of multiple smaller loads will result in less energy and water
Fix your leaks. On average, just one home can save 10,000 gallons of water a year by fixing leaks.
Handwashing your dishes? Fill up the sink with water instead of running the tap
